Read and Write: Tips for Every Photographer

  1.  Live: you should enjoy what you’re doing while shooting at all times you deserve to smile too
  2. Eyes are the prize: I think capturing the eyes really make the photo a good photo because you feel more connected even if you only make eye contact with a photo.
  3. Be someone else for a while: you should use your creativity and imagination. Think outside the box.
  4. It’s all in the details: It doesn’t even need to be a good photo but capturing detail will make it one of the best.
  5. Lighting is everything: at times it’s not the angle or subject or time it’s just the angle.
  6. No matter how pro you get Its still a passion to play: Don’t ever stop having fun and lose passion in what your heart calls you to do.
  7. You’re in RAW right?: use all that your camera offers, keeping it on RAW mode will help you.
  8. How are you leading your viewers: Not all carry the same knowledge so pay close attention to lines that seem to lead the eyes of the uneducated and curious.
  9. It’s hard to be interesting: not every shot will be public worthy, do what you need to get the best shot.
  10. Read the manual: sometimes your questions can be answered by just reading the manual.

Letter to: Next years students

Please be sure photography is something your into. Something that sparks your interests. There’s many kids that sleep and horseplay which should be okay. Mrs Cauchon is a great teacher. She really loves what she does unlike some teachers that seem miserable. Don’t be afraid to ask her for questions or help Shes very patient and kind-hearted.

When i first joined the class i was unaware it was a 2 year curriculum. So make sure its what you want, don’t join just because your friends told you to, its pretty easy to complete assignments if you attend school regularly and don’t waste time. If you get behind that’s where i find it a bit more difficult to catch up.

I enjoy the class and its great to experience new things and classes. I would recommend the class its overall very fun and quite easy. I wish you all the best whether you leave the class or stay all 2 years. you’ll have lots of fun!!

Fill Flash Outside (writing)

Fill Flash Outside is typically used to spice things up by ironing out unwanted shadows. Shadows like dark circle under the eyes or under the nose etc. To take these types of photos remember to keep it subtle. Keep things natural, you shouldn’t want your photos to look fake or unrealistic. You should always have your subject in an angling position with the sun. This is so the sun is behind the back of the subject, with this placement the sun reflects more light on the hair and also catchlight on the eyes. You could also use a reflector, to specifically ramp up the glow of the subjects face. The reflector bounces the flash.
