Read and Write using Strobes

10 important facts I learned.

  • If you’re shootings outdoors or with complicated modifier setups, you’ll need a lot of power to overcome the sun or the light loss.
  • Reflecting umbrellas produce a diffused and soft light due to the larger size the reflecting surface.
  • There are 3 types of umbrellas, silver-lined, white and tinted umbrellas.
  • Use a stand and grips to support your light sources, strobes and even light modifier or backdrops.
  • When shopping for a lightweight stand the ones with an air shock are superior
  • Soft boxes are light weight that come with a reflective inside and a translucent front.
  • Flags are another type of light modifiers.
  • If your flash head doesn’t come with a zoom reflector you can find many types of wide or narrow reflector sold as accessories.
  • Most lights, regardless of the brand or model will provide heads that come in the form of a strobe surrounded by a reflector.
  • There are two kinds of power packs, symmetric power packs and asymmetric power packs.

White Balance

The most important things i learned is if you want to capture a scene as the human eye sees it, you should use white balance because getting white balance down when shooting and post processing can be the key to more natural photos. White balance is removing or neutralizing color casts in your images.

Warhol

  1. Pop art is an art based on modern popular culture and the mass media, especially as a critical or ironic comment on traditional fine art values.

  2. Warhol’s art is considered pop art because his work is characterized by using mass produced images and objects.
  3.  A description on Warhol’s work is everyday objects that are highly edited and produced and a commentary on consumer culture and ass media.
  4. I chose Andy Warhol because he was basically the founder of these kind of overly edited images that we’ve now seen in shirts and posters.Andy Warhol Artworks - Life and Paintings of Pop Art Icon

Am I talking to Myself?

RAW vs JPEG

  1.  Explain the main differences between a raw and jpeg file. Typically, the main difference is the size and raw files leave you with a higher quality file to edit into the best possible image.
  2. Which file is bigger? raw files are significantly bigger than a jpeg or any other image file.
  3. Can you change a raw or jpeg, once your photos are the computer? How? Yes, you can and to convert a raw file to a jpeg you can open and edit it on adobe photoshop lightroom enabling you to process raw files and export as a jpeg or even a Png.
  4. If you were shooting an important event, would you shoot it raw or jpeg? I would shoot it raw because if the image in under or overexposed the dynamic range will make recovery a ton easier, along with greater control over sharpening because raw files are lossless, and you can resize them and not lose a bit of resolution.

Alphabet Photography

History Timeline

The top 3 events and inventions are the first colored commercial. This is because it was the very first colored commercial and it was a hue thing at the time, Imagine only seeing virtual things in black and white like our pets do and one day a commercial has color, realistic like your daily life. My second top is the first high quality camera. This camera was named the “Leica”. I cant imagine how exciting this must have been to see a high quality picture during this time. I chose these cause of course they were successful at that time and now. Today we all use camera whether its for beautiful photography or to take selfies but ill save the best for last.                       My favorite invention which did come later than these two was the first colored instant film. For those of you who don’t know the instant polaroid camera was a way to take a photo and it would come out the bottom. This will forever be my favorite because it was a physical photo that would be printed out. I love the idea of capturing moments on camera and how awesome is it to do so with a picture you can keep forever.
